Therapy for people seeking deeper insight and meaningful change

Virtual therapy for adults, adolescents, couples, and families across New York

I’m Dr. Lee, licensed psychologist in New York and founder of Nalu Psychotherapy.

In therapy, we’ll explore the “why am I like this?” questions and the very real “okay, so what can I do about that?” — so you can understand yourself more clearly and learn practical tools to feel better.

My practice is shaped by my nine years of clinical experience with adolescents and adults in hospital, community, school, and private practice settings. As an Asian American woman, I especially enjoy working with people of color (BIPOC), immigrants, LGBTQIA+ communities, international students, and anyone who’s felt “in between” worlds.

I received my PhD in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from New York University and completed my postdoctoral fellowship in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My work also draws from CBT, ACT, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based approaches.

**I currently have availability on weekday evenings.

Welcome

You might be here if…

  • You overthink, spiral, or can’t seem to slow your mind down

  • You tend to be a people pleaser while being your own harshest critic

  • You feel overwhelmed or stuck in survival mode despite appearing “fine”

  • You feel like you’re either “too much” or “not enough”

  • You keep repeating the same painful patterns in relationships

  • Your teen is struggling with intense emotions, academic pressure, or relationship stress

Areas I commonly work with

  • Anxiety, burnout, and chronic stress

  • Perfectionism and procrastination

  • Difficulty managing emotions

  • Relationships and attachment

  • Identity, spirituality, and life transitions

  • Trauma and difficult past experiences

  • Adolescents navigating school, family, peer, or identity-related stress

How I can help

Your patterns are not failures, but adaptations. Many of the patterns that bring people to therapy have previously helped them cope and survive. Healing often begins by recognizing that the patterns that once protected us may no longer be effective or sustainable.

I believe meaningful therapy combines both insight and change. The psychodynamic part of our work helps us understand how these patterns developed and what functions they served. From there, we can then choose to make room for new ways of thinking, feeling, and being. To support this, I tailor evidence-based interventions (DBT, CBT, ACT, mindfulness) to your unique needs and goals.

Therapy does not happen in a vacuum. We’ll make space for how your past experiences, cultural/familial background, and identities shape the present. I also try to bring my genuine human self to our relationship and create a space where you can show up without needing to filter yourself or have everything figured out.

This process can be messy and vulnerable at times, but not having to carry all of it alone can help make the hard stuff feel a bit more manageable and grounded.

How it works

1. Schedule a free consultation

Book a 15-minute call so we can talk about what you’re looking for, how I can help, and any questions you have. It’s a chance for us to get a feel for the fit — and if I’m not the right match, I’ll point you in the right direction.

2. Schedule an initial session

If it feels like a good fit, we’ll set up a 60-minute first session and I’ll send over simple intake forms. In this session, we’ll talk through what brings you in and what you’re hoping for, and begin making a plan together.

3. Begin ongoing sessions

From there, we’ll meet regularly (usually weekly for 45 minutes) to talk about what’s coming up and work on your goals. We’ll check in as we go, adjust the approach when needed, and make sure the pace feels right for you.
